Setting Up Two-Factor Authentication

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your 221Buddy account.

How It Works

When 2FA is enabled, signing in requires both your password and a one-time code generated by an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator or Authy.

Enabling 2FA

  1. Go to Settings > Account > Security
  2. Click Enable Two-Factor Authentication
  3. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app
  4. Enter the 6-digit code displayed in the app to confirm
  5. Save your backup codes in a secure location

Backup Codes

Backup codes let you sign in if you lose access to your authenticator app. Each code can only be used once. Store them somewhere safe — we cannot recover them for you.

Disabling 2FA

To turn off 2FA, go to Settings > Account > Security and click Disable 2FA. You'll be asked to verify your identity first.
